Aireys Inlet is the perfect coastal destination for fishing with the family. Here, you’ll catch a variety of ocean fish, including Mullet, Salmon, Snapper and Bream. Try your luck at numerous fishing spots from beaches, creeks and fishing platforms. There’s options for fishing all year-round so grab the rod and hit the water today!
Please note, a recreational fishing license can be easily obtained from the Lorne Visitor Information Centre.
Across Grassy Creek there are several rock platfroms that enable you to fish on the ocean. From the carpark there is a steep, but safe access point to Grassy Creek.
The Bambra Road area is a popular place and very accessible. Estuary Perch, a specialist fish, can be caught by working a long tailed fly with several small split shot ahead of the fly. More Estuary Perch is available upstream amongst the edge of the bank.
On this long 8 kilometre white sandy beach you’ll catch plenty of Salmon. There’s numerous parking bays along the Great Ocean Road and amble space to find a secluded part of the beach.
Best fishing is on the rising tide, particularly at evening time and after dark. The bottom of tide produces Snapper, however only when tide is far enough out to give access to deep water. Recommended for the experienced fisherman.
